Afternoon Tee Off @ Porresia in JB (20 Apr 09)

Took the afternoon off from work to golf at Resort Porresia Golf Club with Elin, Keith, Lawrence & his friend, Daniel. It costed us only RM70 on Monday afternoon for 18 holes. Elin, Keith & myself were in the same flight & it was our 2nd time on the green. We tee-ed off around 2pm, thinking that we would end at 7pm (taking 5hrs for 18 holes). Well, we were wrong.. Haha.. we did end at 7pm, but not because we finished all 18 holes, we ended because we were too tired. We did not have a caddy with us that session, so we had to drive our own buggies, find our own balls, walk to & fro to change clubs. And the worse part was that buggies were only allowed on the tracks, so we couldn't drive right up to our balls, so alot of time was spent walking up & down to our buggies. In the end, I did 16 holes, Elin did 15 holes & Keith was too tired to continue after 9 holes.

The course was really quite hard, especially since we were amateurs. There were alot of water hazards that we had to get across at tee-off. We (especially Keith) wasted alot of time searching for our balls; Keith's balls tend to fly out-of-bounds; I lost a few to the damn water hazards; Elin had to look for hers amongst the long grass. The course wasn't as well-maintained as the Palm Springs Resort (Batam) one.

With some luck, I could do close to 100yards with a 5 wood, but most of the time, I'll count myself lucky if I could hit more than 50yards with my 7 iron. So out of 16 holes (63 par), I clocked up 148 strokes. Wahahahaha.. that's more than double.. But I'd like to believe that all golf pros started out this same way. Anyways, there's definitely plenty of room for improvement, practice makes perfect.

Things change, so do we. We grow up.
